“Optimal Wellness:” It’s not a lofty dream for BodyWise Physical Therapy patients. Our team develops a customized treatment plan with your personal “optimal wellness” in mind from day one.
Dr. Sigal believes that “optimal wellness” is being able to manage your own body to its fullest. He feels it’s important to develop an understanding your own history, know what you do well – or not. It’s only after a shared understanding of each patient’s physical challenges, opportunities, personal history and fitness or wellness goals solidifies for both the patient and therapist, that the BodyWise Physical Therapy team introduces their patient to a treatment plan.
Our approach is well-rounded and holistic in philosophy, echoing the concepts so eloquently described by Katy Bowman, a part biomechanist, part science communicator, and full-time mover, who has educated hundreds of thousands of people on the role movement plays in the body and in the world.
“Nutritious Movement is a whole-body movement program that utilizes exercises, alignment adjustments, and habitat (lifestyle) changes to better move all trillion of your body’s parts.” (Click here to learn more about Nutritious Movement.)
At BodyWise, for instance, we may meet a new patient who has been hypervigilant about ergonomics, but completely disregarded how their diet and overall activity level are affecting their health. Now more than ever – if you are considering a new fab diet, taking up a new sport or physical training routine, we caution you. Be careful not to create elite imbalances – where your stamina for a specialized activity is elite, but your overall physical state is below average. (We often hear about these imbalances with youth athletes who have perhaps over-specialized at a young age, but this concept is an important factor to consider regardless of age.)
